Frequently asked questions
Common questions when comparing graphics cards and choosing the best one for your PC.
How do I compare two graphics cards?
Pick the two GPUs in the selector above and you'll see the matchup instantly: average gaming FPS at 1080p, 1440p and 4K, side-by-side specs, launch price and a verdict on which is better.
When comparing, what matters most: FPS, VRAM or price?
FPS at your target resolution come first. VRAM (video memory) sets the headroom for future games and high textures: 8 GB for 1080p, 12 GB for 1440p and 16 GB or more for 4K. Price defines the performance-per-dollar.
How do I know which is better for my resolution (1080p, 1440p or 4K)?
The higher the resolution, the more powerful the graphics card needs to be. At 1080p almost any mid-range card is plenty; at 1440p aim for upper-midrange; for 4K you need a high-end GPU. In the comparison, look at the column for the resolution you care about.
Does the brand (NVIDIA, AMD or Intel) matter when choosing?
Yes: NVIDIA (GeForce RTX) leads in ray tracing and DLSS upscaling; AMD (Radeon) often gives more rasterization and VRAM per dollar with FSR; Intel Arc is competitive in the budget tier with XeSS. Filter by brand based on your priorities.
Are the FPS in the comparisons real?
They're estimates from our FPS engine, computed across the most popular games on a reference CPU, designed to reflect real relative performance rather than lab measurements of a single game.
