About CheckFPS
What is CheckFPS?
CheckFPS is a free tool created by Lluis Enric Mayans, a PC hardware and graphics performance specialist. It was built to solve the frustration of not finding reliable performance data before buying hardware or a new game. Today it covers 200+ games, 135 GPUs, and 141 CPUs.
How Does It Work?
The algorithm combines GPU and CPU benchmark scores with per-game demand profiles to generate realistic estimates. It accounts for resolution, graphics quality, RAM, and the CPU/GPU balance for each title. Data comes from public benchmark sources: TechPowerUp, Tom's Hardware, NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel.
Our Data
200+ games, 135 graphics cards, and 141 processors. Updated regularly from public sources and the Steam API to include the latest releases. Each estimate shows a confidence level: high (real benchmark), medium (extrapolated), or low (estimated).
Transparency
We clearly mark which data comes from real benchmarks and which are estimates. Our goal is to be helpful and honest, not to sell hardware. You can review the full methodology on our sources and methodology page.
